My artwork combines several layers of life. I integrate the western culture with the east, as well as incorporating the traditional design styles of the past with the more modern styles of today. A lot of research and careful study goes into each final piece to be sure that all the symbols and subtle meanings speak the same message. Experimentation also plays an important role for my work and me. Because of this, I’m never without a sketchbook so I am constantly brainstorming; sometimes the ideas are left in the sketchbook to inspire me for a later date, sometimes the ideas develop into in-depth concepts and detailed messages. I sketch in color so my book becomes a source of inspiration and visual stimulation. Color has a strong effect on me, and I want that seen in each of my pieces.
I want to push graphic design further so it’s not only advertisement, but also a powerful statement that makes a difference to someone, somewhere. I want to make memorable pieces that provoke my audience to think about the message I’m trying to communicate. I’m not eloquent with words, but with pictures, I can speak clearly and poignantly.
